(ABC 6 News)-An Austin man is creating an interesting hobby for himself-wood carving. He started making wooden ducks in the 90s, but said that when he started making Santa figurines, he found his place. He said that popular holiday icons are not as easy to create as you think. "Some things I would rather sculpt, and other people's faces are difficult to sculpt, unless I grow a beard or mustache on them, and then I can get them," Dave Dammen said. Damen said that his works are not as sold as before, but he certainly did not stop creating.

Some of his recent projects include making rocking horses for his grandchildren and totem poles for his family and friends.

He said he likes to start with a piece of wood and then turn it into a work of art.
